A Gratitude Meditation for Canadian Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, Oct 8, 2012

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. To thank you for visiting my blog, I want to share with you one of the favourite meditations that my class loves.

Welcome to the Gratitude meditation.

Begin by thinking of things you are grateful for in your life. See these wonderful things as a small pinpoint of light in your heart. See it as a light, feel it, and allow it to grow and expand slowly.  Allow it to radiate throughout your body, and then beyond your body into the world.  Feel the gratitude.

Use the follow words to help you feel the gratitude in your body. Read it slowly.  You will feel amazing afterwards.

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  1. I love this meditation. I sent it on to others at Thanksgiving. It makes so much sense to think this way and in doing so, become more happy and at peace. I’m a firm believer we already have all we need. Thank you, Wendy! Hope you enjoyed the beautiful Thanksgiving weekend.

  2. One of my favourite meditations of all. It is such a great way to end the day before you go to sleep. I find that I sleep much better in the state of gratefulness.

  3. Hi Wendy,
I really enjoyed today’s blog. So often, we lose sight of all the many things we should be thankful for and dwell on life circumstances that we perceive as negative. We miss most of the opportunities to be grateful. You helped clarify and define many of the wonders in life that help us grow and become better. Thank you for sharing the Gratitude meditation.

    • Hi Kent! You are so very welcome and thank you for your lovely comment. This is one of my all-time favourites and I’m really glad you like it.
